The S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants list will be announced April 21, 2008. Until then, you can make your voice heard by voting for your favorite restaurant to receive The Alliance Restaurant Insurance Readers' Choice Award. The deadline to vote – March 14, 2008. Voting enters you into a drawing to win two tickets to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants event in London!

  • As much as I would love to see it, Omaha restaurants don't have much of a chance of getting nominated. We just don't have the numbers that other cities do. Plus, I don't see people in Omaha taking an active role in the food they select. Most of it is based on seating. :(

  • I have to disagree a little. Do you really believe the best restaurant in the world is in Omaha?

    Of course the population of a city has influence on the number of votes it receives, but I think most people would be very willing to vote for a restaurant that isn't in their home town. This can be seen in the fact that L.A. didn't have a single restaurant that broke into the top 50 last year. Granted their population could have been a double edged sword; their population could attract so many top restaurants that their votes get diluted among a broad candidate list.

    So you could possibly argue that Omaha's small population prevents us from attracting world class restaurants, but I don't think you can blame the lack of votes on the size of the city.
